I am a mom of three beautiful children.  My kids are subjects in front of my lens more than anyone or anything else.  But, I realized something recently...  For the thousands of pictures I have of my babies (and husband), there are one or two of me.  I hide from the camera.  I am always capturing the important moments for them and using it as an excuse to not have my own photo taken.  I noticed something else as well... My mom did the same thing.  I have one recent photo of my mom, and almost no old ones.  And go my grandma?  None.  I don't have one picture of my wonderful grandmother.  

As women we hide from anyone with a camera.  We're afraid someone might catch our bad side, or that we put on a few pounds and wouldn't want anything to remind us that we've been skipping the gym lately.  I find this happening more and more often to me.  My kids are going to look back at all our family pictures one day and I will be missing.  

We all owe it to our kids to have pictures of ourselves.  Our kids don't care if we put on a few pounds, or if we were caught at a strange angle in the camera.  Our kids want to show their grandchildren who we were someday.  We can't wait until we're the perfect size.  In our children's eyes, we are perfect now and they deserve to have proof that we existed.
